Do-it-Yourself Shoe Dying

When it comes to dying shoes, one should consider carefully the color and effect as well as method. Most shoe-dyeing operations only do white shoes, Zappos Digest had a correspondent offer this great observation:

“I have dyed many pair of shoes on my own. I use a fabric spray paint that I get at either a craft store or a costume or dance store. I have always had success. I have dyed everything from boots to expensive strappy sandals.

I use painters blue tape to cover the parts not to receive color and just spray as directed on the can. Perhaps you can test this first by purchasing an inexpensive pair of similar fabric shoes like a kids pair at payless or somewhere similar and spray it first.

I get so many compliments on my shoes, especially a bronze pair. Good luck

P.S.      I even dye shoes that are not cloth.

Carol”
